Below are just some of my thoughts for today's time--enjoy
I have been thinking about our soldiers. Whether or not we are Christians, whether or
not we agree with the idea of this war, and whether or not we agree with any aspect
of the armed forces, they are there. They have voluntarily chosen to leave their
comfortable, safe home to go to places that may not want them there. That
misunderstand their presence. They are sacrificing their time away from their family.
They are sacrificing free time to watch football, or go to the games, or do a thousand
things that we do on a daily basis. They are there for our protection, giving up limb
and life if need be. Sometimes, even being ridiculed by the very people they are
protecting. Sometimes they don't know where or when they will be anywhere. All this
even if we don't care, they are still there, still protecting our way of life, still sacrificing
themselves for us. Let's stop and pray for our soldiers. Let's sacrifice some time to lift
them up in prayer, and their families. Jesus is very much like that. He left heaven, His
home, His safe ground, to come to a place that misunderstood Him, a place that
ridiculed Him, and still does, a place that rejected Him. A place where He gave up His
life on earth to offer us protection, and a way to have eternal life with Him in a place
without war, or hunger, or fear. Will you stop and reflect on what this could mean to
your life? The birth of our Savior, whether we want Him or not, He still came. A Savior
that can be ours just for the asking. Will you stop and spend some time with God
today?
